Introduction
The Central Brooklyn Food Coop (“CBFC”) is a 100% working member owned-and-operated food store with membership open to all. Our mission is to utilize our collective strength to ensure access to affordable and fresh food while centering Black and low-to-moderate-income communities of Central Brooklyn.
CBFC is in its final organizing stages and actively working toward the opening of our brick and mortar store in September 2022. To get us to opening, we need time to gather, collectively vision, and create actionable plans that committees can be accountable to throughout the year leading up to store opening.
Overview
The CBFC Store Opening Working Group and Business and Strategy Committees have taken a lead on project planning including the creation of a technical store opening plan that outlines tasks related to real estate, store build-out, and pre-store opening requirements. We are seeking a facilitator to lead a strategic planning retreat with the desired outcome of creating plans for the board and each committee that parallel the technical store opening plan. The retreat should also aim to cultivate member-owner buy-in from each CBFC committee as it relates to their core functions. The retreat will also serve to cultivate camaraderie across CBFC membership.

Desired Facilitator Qualifications
● Strong background in food justice/sovereignty issues
● Strong understanding of cooperative economies and/or cooperative culture
● Background in organizational management and strategy
● Experience as an external facilitator
Compensation Respondents are asked to include a budget breakdown in their proposal to include their rate and all associated costs.
